At JMD Plastics and Hobby, since we offer the lowest prices in the nation on ALL model railroad products in ALL scales, we want to keep this theme going in our shipping policies. Unlike many firms that charge you a flat fee for shipping when in reality shipping a small product could be shipped for a lot less, we believe in charging ACTUAL SHIPPING costs; not inflated rates. The same would be said if you have a large order. We will only charge actual shipping rates, and try to pack things as well as possible into appropriate sized packages. Here is how we do this:

  1. When you place your order, you will not see a final total with shipping.
  2. We will package your order and take it to either UPS, Fed Ex, or the US Post Office and ship it to you via the firm that has the lowest possible rate.
  3. You can, at your choice, instruct us to ship it to you quicker at a higher rate if you need your items sooner. Please indicate this to us when you order if you need special shipping.
  4. Once your order has been posted and shipped, we will charge your credit card for the shipping as a separate charge, rounded up to the nearest even dollar.
  5. In some instances, shipping may include the cost of a special box or packing materials like bubble wrap or packing peanuts, depending on the item being shipped, so as to assure its safe arrival to your door. For example, we’d hate to pack a rare railroad lantern in a crummy box with no wrapping to the glass globe. As packaging materials are not free, we assume you would rather have us pack things right for you so they arrive intact.
  6. If you would like to have your package insured, please let us know this when you place your order! All packages come with tracking, but if you do not request insurance, we are NOT liable for lost/damaged product. If you do choose insurance and the shipping agent loses or damages your item, we will be happy to provide you with all information necessary to help you make a claim.

In states where we have a physical presence, as in we do trade/train shows, or have a storage or distribution center or store, we are required to collect sales tax.

We accept Mastercard, Visa, and Discover. We do not accept American Express at this time.

FOREIGN CREDIT CARD POLICIES:

Our credit card processor requires a USA zip code entry in order to be able to process a Mastercard/Visa/Discover Card. If you are ordering from Canada or another foreign country, we will call you to ask you to contact your credit card company to get a one-time USA 5 digit zip code to use with your order so we can process it.
